The Dawn

We rise from the ashes
dancing in the dirt.

Our feet full of clay,
drifting over the Earth.

We fall past into caves,
into the dark, into the black.

We swift with the wind,
chasing the orange leaves back.

Our whispers carry the stars,
our dreams linger on the moon.

We skip from galaxy to galaxy,
down into a lost tune.

We found our home in the sky,
sleeping on white beds

But the sun has yet to rise
and the cold is still a thin thread.

Our hands can cup the biggest stones,
defeat our greatest rivals.

But only light can cut the dark,
and dawn is just beyond the arrival.
